Here's a fun 'personality test' that I do with couples. Print out two of these and have them fill in the 'me' and 'you' columns with their idea of where they score on the spectrum. It's just for fun, don't take it too seriously.
Next, go over the answers and have each person record what the other person said in the adjacent column.
The idea is this:
- We all are somewhere on the spectrum for each of these traits
- It's helpful to know where you and your partner are, and where you think the other is.
- Now we have an opening to discuss how they'll handle their differences. The idea is to be sure that there is a path to communication. Someone who is outgoing will need to be careful to listen to their partner, for example.
