Keeping God in Your Marriage

Marriage is a divine institution ordained by God, and keeping Him at the center of your relationship can strengthen your bond and help you navigate through life's challenges. Here are some simple yet profound ways to keep God in your marriage, supported by verses from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible.

1. Pray Together

One of the most powerful ways to keep God in your marriage is through prayer. Praying together allows you to seek God's guidance, express gratitude, and find peace in His presence. The Bible says, "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 18:19, KJV). By praying together, you invite God's blessings and strengthen your spiritual connection.

2. Read the Bible Together

Reading the Bible together helps you grow in your faith and understand God's will for your marriage. The Bible is filled with wisdom and guidance for couples. As it is written, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:105, KJV). Regularly reading and discussing the Bible can help you align your lives with God's teachings and build a solid foundation for your marriage.

3. Attend Church Together

Attending church together provides an opportunity to worship God, learn from His Word, and fellowship with other believers. It helps you grow spiritually and strengthens your commitment to each other and to God. Hebrews 10:25 (KJV) encourages us: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Being part of a faith community can provide support and encouragement for your marriage.

4. Practice Forgiveness

Forgiveness is essential in any marriage, and it reflects God's love and grace. The Bible teaches us to forgive as we have been forgiven: "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you" (Ephesians 4:32, KJV). By practicing forgiveness, you can overcome conflicts and maintain a loving and harmonious relationship.

5. Serve God Together

Serving God together can bring you closer as a couple and allow you to live out your faith. Whether it's volunteering at your church, helping those in need, or sharing the gospel, serving God together can deepen your bond and give you a shared sense of purpose. As Joshua declared, "But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (Joshua 24:15, KJV), making a commitment to serve God together can bring joy and fulfillment to your marriage.

6. Love Unconditionally

Lastly, love each other unconditionally, as Christ loves us. The Bible's definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (KJV) is a beautiful guide for married couples: "Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things." By loving each other with a Christ-like love, you can build a strong, lasting, and God-centered marriage.

By incorporating these practices into your marriage, you can keep God at the center and enjoy a fulfilling and harmonious relationship that honors Him.
