Wedding Ceremony – Charles & Amanda

Opening Prayer

Let's pray: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of love and for the joy that brings us together today. Bless this couple as they stand before You — guide their steps, strengthen their commitment, and fill this moment with Your peace. May their life together reflect grace, kindness, and enduring devotion. Amen.

Amanda mentioned to me something that I'd like to share:

Ephesians 3:16–19 (ESV): "…according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."

About Charles, she said: "He honors me, protects me, and takes care of me in ways I didn't even know were possible."

Welcoming the Invitees

Every love story begins with a spark — a moment when two paths cross (she described this moment to me…) and something quiet but unmistakable starts to glow. Over time, that spark becomes a steady flame, shaped by shared laughter, and the kind of ordinary days that slowly turn into a life. Today we honor that flame, the one that has warmed their hearts, and brought them to this moment.

I haven't heard it recently, but it used to be that at the beginning of a wedding you'd hear: "dearly beloved, we are gathered here"… I wanted to be sure that you understand that you are their "dearly beloved"! You are the community that has supported them, challenged them, and cheered them on. Your presence here is a reminder that love doesn't grow in isolation; it grows in the soil of friendship, family, and shared life.

And now, surrounded by the people who have encouraged them and celebrated them, they choose to join their stories into one. Not because love is effortless, but because it is worth the effort — a daily choosing, a daily giving, a daily grace. Today is the beginning of that shared promise, and it is a beautiful thing to witness.

Declaration of Intent

Charles, love has brought you to this moment — a love that has grown through shared days, deep understanding, and the quiet certainty that life is better when the two of you walk it together. So, I ask you now: do you choose Amanda to be your partner in life — to love her, honor her, and walk beside her through every season that comes?

And Amanda, do you choose Charles — to share your days, your strength, your laughter, and your heart; to stand with him in joy and in challenge; and to continue building a life shaped by grace, trust, and devotion?

Vows / Rings

Amanda and Charles have said their own vows in private already, so we'll move on to the ring exchange.

Charles, take her ring, and before you place it on her finger, repeat after me:

In Genesis 2, God created woman, and in the very next verse we see this:

Genesis 2:24 (KJV): "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

We are created for community, we are created for this moment.

Blessing

Charles and Amanda, today you have spoken promises shaped by devotion and sealed with intention. You stand here not as two separate stories, but as one unfolding journey — a partnership strengthened by tenderness and brightened by the hope you carry into the years ahead.

I pray that your life together be a place where wonder never fades, where laughter rises easily, and where the quiet strength of companionship becomes your daily shelter.

I pray that you meet each season with open hands, growing wiser in challenge and ever more devoted in the ordinary days that make a marriage whole. May the love you share deepen into something steady and enduring — a light that guides you, a story you are proud to write together.

And now, by the authority entrusted to me, I pronounce you husband and wife. Charles, you may kiss your bride.
